New edition of the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants (The Shenzhen Code).
The Shenzhen Code in its final form was published on 26 June 2018 (printed version). This electronic version was
made available on 27 June 2018.
Two-day workshop “Scientific approach in cultivation of Salicaceae” took place in Moscow, Russia, on June 6-7,
2018. Ten people from Belgium, Finland, Russia, UK and USA shared their knowledge and experiences.

New Edition of the Checklist for Cultivars of Salix is in preparation
The first version of the Checklist for Cultivars of Salix, which represent a working list of all known Salix cultivar
names, was published in November 2015.
The discoveries and selections of new cultivars of Salix are ongoing gradually increasing the number of valuable
genotypes. Modern molecular, morphological and nomenclatural studies are resolving taxonomical relationships that
may change the ranking of previously described taxa.
The second version of the Checklist for Cultivars of Salix is in preparation to be published in 2020 to include new
information. Corrections of errors or additional information for inclusion into the new edition of The Checklist that
reflect all recent additions and changes are appreciated. Please send your comments to the author

The ninth edition of the International Code of Nomenclature for Cultivated Plants has been published in
June 2016 in the ISHS series. Scripta Horticulturae (Scripta Horticulturae #18). The 9th edition replaces
any previous editions of ‘The Code’ (the 8th edition was published in October 2009 as Scripta
Horticulturae Number 10 and as Regnum Vegetabile Vol. 151.)
The establishment of the International Cultivar Registration Authority for Salix
In April 2013, the International Poplar Commission, FAO UN is designated as the International Cultivar
Registration Authority (ICRA) for willows, the official body for the registration of cultivars of the genus
Salix.
A peer-reviewed open-access journal that publishes original research articles as well as review
articles and monographs in plant science, especially those covering all aspects of Salicology.
